four13 World Cup 2010 (updated)
Ok, I have made some changes to what I am playing in the world's ultimate tournament... and I'm really excited!
TO WIN: Spain (+375) Brazil (+450) Argentina (+675) England (+700) Netherlands (+1000) USA (+8000) As long as one of these nations wins the Cup, I will do ok. If Spain or Brazil take it then I will lose a little bit of money by taking this many teams, but I will make money if any of the other four pull it off. Almost hate to say this, but I can't see the winner not coming from this group (USA really excluded, that is just a homer bet and I can't imagine them winning it all and not being on it in some way). GROUP WINNERS: A: Uruguay (+320) B: Argentina (-275) C: USA (+420) D: Serbia (+275) E: Netherlands (-200) F: Paraguay (+260) G: Brazil (-200) H: Spain (-500) My previous post was not final, but this is. I'm taking a few chances in order to try and get some + money in some spots I like (ie. Uruguay, Serbia, & Paraguay). The more I look at the South American squads the more I like them. TOP GOAL SCORER: Lionel Messi (+900) Wayne Rooney (+1000) Fernando Torres (+1200) Trimmed some fat here I believe. I'm beginning to feel that Cristiano Ronaldo, along with Portugal, will flop in the public eye even though the squad isn't too special outside of Cristiano. He won't play enough games to claim this award imo. PROPS: GOLDEN BALL: Wesley Sneijder (+2500) If the Netherlands can pull of something remarkable, I believe it will be a total result of Sneijder's play. He absolutely has the potential to be the best player in the tournament without being the top goal scorer. A bit of a homer pick though (see Inter Milan CAM). GROUP WITH LEAST GOALS: GROUP C (+500) I know England can score, but they have a history of flopping in the WC. Same story with USA, although on a much smaller scale. I also think the top seeds hold the lower seeds down. Like I said, I am really excited for tomorrow! Good luck to everyone go USA! ![]() ![]() Friday, June 11 South Africa v. Mexico Draw (+215) Uruguay v. France Uruguay Win or Draw (-133) Saturday, June 12 USA v. England USA Win or Draw (+162) |

RE: four13 World Cup 2010 (updated)
I love your opening plays...I LOVE the Uruguay NTL bet...
I like that homer bet too It presents NO value to lay that kinda of juice with England...Although I think they beat us, I like the odds for the US at a NTL bet...I will tail for small and cheer them on...Fishy line movement too favors the US or a draw IMO...And im sure the Euros are pounding their books with English action outta pure spite...GL. Solid plays |

It is obviously a homer play and I don't mind saying it, but USA has no "real" pressure to beat England, they just have to make it look good. While England has all of the pressure because they "CANNOT" lose to the Americans. Here's to taking down our colonial cousins! |

RE: four13 World Cup 2010 (updated)
So I'm having a brain fart...instead of a NTL bet (I can't do it...one of the many reasons my book sucks), does it make sense to halve your wager and put half on the team to win and the other half on draw?
I know you down some juice there, but does that make sense? I feel like I should just crunch the numbers to see For instance, my book has USA +600 to win, and +300 to draw. Say I put 20 on them to win and 20 on draw, is that comparable to 40 on NTL, if you use the +162 odds as an example? 20 to win wins 120...20 to draw wins 60...40 NTL wins about 64. So if they win, you net 100...they draw, you net 40...if you had done the NTL, you win 64. Does this make sense? I guess you're better off with a win in that example than a draw...but you're still up money. I'm just thinking aloud |

Yea I did this before as well. As long as it is + money on the double chance I think it is worth it. If England wins you and me are screwed either way
